Description of Job

Why Mayo Clinic
We are seeking a professional and accomplished Director of Operations to join our dedicated London team.
Mayo Clinic is a global leader in healthcare. Our doctors practice the art of care, not just the science of medicine. They take the time needed to perform unhurried, comprehensive and thoughtful evaluations and consultations, making sure patients understand every step of their care.

This position is located in London. Qualified candidates must be eligible to work in the U.K. Relocation is not provided.

Position description
The Director of Operations in London is expected to maintain a departmental and institutional perspective in the management of Mayo Clinic Healthcare London to ensure strategic plans are converted into good operational performance. The director will serve institutional governance and leadership needs through active participation on committees, community boards, task forces, etc. One of the successes of the Mayo Clinic is the collegiality, mutual support, and respect demonstrated by the physician/medical director and their administrative partners. This partnership combines the clinical and managerial talents necessary to achieve the Mayo Clinics strategic and operating plans. The director provides management of allied health staff and is responsible for providing appropriate staff support to department committees and task forces. Multiple, and sometimes conflicting, assignments at enterprise, clinic, or department level may create a need to adjust plans and activities quickly and transparently: the directors role is to assure that this is done effectively at MCH London. The position reports to the Associate Vice-President of Delivery Services and is accountable to the Mayo Clinic Healthcare Executive Committee.

The pace and complexity of the environment, coupled with future growth expectations, demand a highly skilled individual with an astute level of business acumen who can represent the Mayo vision while rapidly adjusting to dynamic business needs. The director is responsible for translating the institutions vision into meaningful and effective operational responses, bringing an institutional perspective to daily decisions, and bringing operational expertise, perspective, and experience back to the institution. The director provides financial oversight of the clinic, P&L accountability, and prudent management of resources to optimize patient flow and throughput, forecast future capacity and match resources to demand - in partnership with physician consultants and business development. The director manages relationships with external vendors and contracted service providers to meet service-level expectations and network with the healthcare community for business development needs. The director is responsible for human capital and resource management, maintaining a highly engaged workforce with appropriate allied health and consultant staffing levels, monitoring overall team productivity and performance, leading the development of staff, and assisting physician and allied health staff in developing their skills and ensuring appropriate succession planning. Ensuring a consistent, exceptional patient experience at the level of a 5-star experience is a core service delivery expectation of the directors leadership style. The director will be adept at establishing goals and KPIs/metrics and monitoring individual, team, and clinic performance while identifying areas of improvement and acting as a catalyst for realizing these improvements. The director is responsible for maintaining high-quality standards, evidenced by a CQC ranking of good or excellent across all service settings, and ensuring that all new services and modalities meet specialty certification requirements as needed. The director brings awareness of current external issues such as regulation, reimbursement, legislation, alternative delivery modes, etc. The director acts as a facilitator, a champion, a generator of new ideas, and a mediator on complex issues by demonstrating agility, adapting, or evolving in response to changing circumstances.

For the safety of our patients and staff, Mayo Clinic Healthcare strongly encourages all new hires to obtain COVID-19 vaccination.
